
Zephyrs Open Second Half At Home Friday

Metairie, LA - The New Orleans Zephyrs begin the second half of the 2008 schedule when they return to Zephyr Field on Friday to begin a four-game homestand against the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7 p.m.
The Zephyrs currently sit in second place in the Pacific Coast League American South Division, nine games behind the Oklahoma RedHawks. The Zephyrs rode a three-game winning streak into the All-Star Break, including a doubleheader sweep of the Nashville Sounds on the final day of the first half. Pitcher Willie Collazo got the start in Wednesday's Triple-A All-Star Game for the Pacific Coast League, and pitched a scoreless inning.
The series pitching probables are as follows:
Friday 7 p.m. vs. Albuquerque: RH Claudio Vargas (3-1) vs. RH Frankie De La Cruz (9-5) Saturday 6 p.m. vs. Albuquerque: RH Brandon Knight (4-1) vs. RH Bobby Keppel (7-9) Sunday 2 p.m. vs. Albuquerque: RH Ruddy Lugo (6-8) vs. LH Chris Seddon (7-6) Monday 12 p.m. vs. Albuquerque: RH Brian Stokes (9-8) vs. RH Dallas Trahern(4-8)
A postgame fireworks spectacular will kick off the busy weekend on Friday. There will be live music from Local Option II following Saturday's game, when the Zephyrs will celebrate Christmas In July. Santa Claus will be handing out presents and will be available for pictures, and all fans who bring a gift to donate to Toys For Tots will receive $5 admission. Bring your bathing suit on Sunday for Wet & Wild Day, as there will be water-themed fun on the plaza, and the Zephyrs will be giving away the 2008 team photo at the gates before the game. The homestand concludes with a 12:00 start on Monday, with all fans age 60 and up receiving $5 admission.
