Harrisburg (PA) - The Charlotte Independence professional soccer team played to a draw versus Penn FC at FNB Field on Wednesday night. A first-half brace by forward Eamon Zayed was enough to keep the Independence unbeaten in the last six league games.

The Independence jumped out to an early lead when forward Derek Gebhard slipped the Penn defense and his blocked shot fell to Eamon Zayed who lobbed in a score from 35 yards out. Gebhard and Zayed continued their excellent play when the pair combined again in the 28th minute to double the Independence lead.

However, Penn would close out the scoring with two goals of their own coming in the 36th and 44th minutes. Midfielder Richard Menjivar assisted both Kyle Venter and then Lucky Mkosana. The Independence posted a clean second half, with goalkeeper Brandon Miller coming up with six saves throughout the match.

Entering the penultimate fixture of the 2018 USL regular-season, the Independence will face the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium this Saturday, October 6th. The official watch party will be hosted at Jack's House Soccer Bar and Retail Store, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 PM ET.
