PLYMOUTH, Mich. - The Muskegon Lumberjacks continue their winning ways and extend their winning streak to four games after blanking Team USA U17 by a final score of 5-to-0 from USA Hockey Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 24. Goaltender Platon Zadorozhnyy scooped up his first career shutout while forward Benny Barnes scored his first career goal in a Lumberjacks uniform. Elsewhere, Quinn Hutson notched a pair of goals with Joey Larson earning his team-leading 11th goal of the season.

1st Period

The red-hot Lumberjacks continued to score first in games, with the first goal coming from Quinn Hutson at 5:19 of the first period. Hutson's eighth goal of the season was unassisted to give Muskegon the 1-to-0 lead.

Muskegon doubled their lead with Emil Jarventie's third lamplighter of his USHL career at 11:03 of the opening frame. Jarventie's goal was assisted by Phil Tresca and Noah Ellis to double up Team USA by a score of 2-to-0.

After the first period of action, the Lumberjacks carried a 2-to-0 lead into the first intermission.

2nd Period

The Jacks would go up by a trio after Joey Larson potted his team-leading 11th goal of the season at 6:44 of the middle period. Larson's goal was assisted by Tyler Dunbar and Noah Ellis to give Muskegon a 3-to-0 lead.

After 40 minutes, the Lumberjacks controlled a 3-to-0 lead into the intermission.

3rd Period

Just 102 seconds into the final period, Quinn Hutson netted a shorthanded goal to extend the Muskegon lead to 4-to-0. Hutson's second goal of the game was unassisted.

Forward Benny Barnes lit the lamp for the first time in his USHL career, scoring the fifth goal of the game to make it a 5-to-0 lead for the Lumberjacks. That goal was also unassisted at 15:07 of the third period.

In the end, the Lumberjacks extended their winning streak to four consecutive games, with goaltender Platon Zadorozhnyy picking up his first career shutout along the way.

On Deck

After the Thanksgiving holiday, the Muskegon Lumberjacks will return home to open up a two-game weekend series against the Madison Capitols on Friday and Saturday, November 26 and 27, respectively. Puck drop is slated for 7:10 pm EST both nights from Mercy Health Arena in downtown Muskegon.
