Yuma Scorpions News Release

With training camp set to start on Sunday the Yuma Scorpions of the Golden Baseball League have completed their 2010 coaching staff.

Field Manager Darryl Brinkley has hired one of his former managers, Dave Cash, as the Scorpions hitting coach.

Cash joins another former major leaguer Bill Pulsipher on Brinkley's 2010 staff.

Cash, a former major league all-star held the same position with Sussex of the Can-Am League the past two seasons. He managed Utica of the New York State League in 2007 and was a coach with the Baltimore Orioles prior to that. The second sacker played five seasons with the Pirates, three with the Phillies, three with the Expos and finished his illustrious major league career with the Padres.

He was at Desert Sun Stadium for his final Major League baseball training camp.

Pulsipher

will not only be the ace of the Scorpions pitching staff but will also serve as the teams' pitching coach. Drafted by the New York Mets in the second round in 1991, Pulsipher spent two seasons with the Mets and eventually played six seasons in the majors. The left hander also pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals. He has spent the last two seasons in triple-A in the Mexican League.

Brinkley, the

2007 Baseball America Independent League Player of the Year, is retiring after an illustrious 16 year professional career to accept his first managerial job with the Scorpions. Brinkley, with nine years as a triple-A star outfielder, reached the magical .400 plateau with the Calgary Vipers of the Northern League in 2007. Last season he hit .297 with 13 home runs and 82 runs batted in for the Edmonton Capitals. His playing career has featured stops in Venezuela, Mexico, Korea and Japan. He has also coached for two years in the GBL's Arizona Winter League.

Brinkley, Cash and Pulsipher will all be available for media outlets on Saturday, May 8 at Desert Sun Stadium following the Scorpions Free Agent camp.

That camp runs from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
