Orange County Flyers News Release
After being blown out Tuesday night, the Yuma Scorpions (9-7) attempted to return the favor to Orange County Flyers (10-4) on Wednesday night jumping out to a 11 run lead at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, California.
Orange County made it interesting narrowing the deficit to three in the eigth, but in the end the Scorpions got out of big jams defensively, twice with the bases loaded, and won the second game of the three game series 14-8.
Yuma put up three runs in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings and rode a solid outing from starter Evan White.
However, Orange County came roaring back with three runs against White before exploiting the Yuma bullpen.
David Bacani continued his excellent hitting blasting a two run shot in the seventh. The Flyers missed to add more damage in the seventh leaving the bases loaded for the second time in the game.
That was not the end of the Flyer attack, Jermy Acey belted his 6th homer of the season and first as a Flyer in Fullerton.
Still, the rally came up short as the Scorpions picked up three insurance runs in the top of the 9th.
White went six innings and surrendered three runs, two earned and picked up the W improving to 2-0.
Jeremy Zick was charged with the loss, lasting just three innings and drops to 1-2.
The two teams will meet in the rubber match Thursday night at 7:05.
