GARY, Ind. (March 8, 2004) â It is not just another pie in the sky promise or dream.
Baker's Square of Merrillville and the Gary Steelheads are sponsoring a pie-eating contest at halftime of the Steelheads vs. Idaho Stampede Continental Basketball Association Playoff Game.
Six contestants will have four minutes to eat all the blueberry pie that they can! The winner will receive a $50 Baker's Square Gift Certificate. The other five contestants will receive Steelheads merchandise.
* Any student who has not used his or her student achiever certificate or bookmark may redeem them at the Steelheads office for a ticket to Friday's game.
* The Steelheads play their first-ever playoff game on Tuesday at Idaho in the best-of-five first-round series. They also play at Idaho on Wednesday. Both games are at 8:10 p.m., Gary time and can be heard on the World Wide Web at www.steelheadshoops.com. Just click on the Sportsjuice icon. Their first-ever home playoff game is Friday at 7:05 p.m. at the Genesis Convention Center. Game 4, if necessary is Saturday night at home. If a fifth game is necessary, it will be on Thursday, March 18 at Idaho.
