"HAUSED": The Indiana Ice set franchise records on Saturday for shots on goal in a period (28) and shots on goal in a game (56) and out shot Des Moines 56-19, but still fell to the Buccaneers 3-2 at Pepsi Coliseum. Des Moines netminder Michael Hauser turned back 54 of 56 Indy shot attempts and has made 101 saves in his two starts against the Ice.
SIX FOR THE ROAD: With two more wins last week, the Ice extended their franchise-best and 2008-09 USHL-best road winning streak to six games. In those six victories, Indiana has outscored their opponents by a 31-10 margin. On the flip side, the Ice has struggled at home of late as the team has dropped five of their last six games at Pepsi Coliseum.
STICK AND GLOVE: All-stars Mike Cichy and Brett Bennett continued their torrid play last week. Cichy is riding a five-game point streak (4G, 4A) and has 22 points (10G, 12A) in just 12 games with the Ice. He is also tied for fourth in the USHL in scoring (51 pts) and is fifth in assists (31). Bennett has won his last four starts in net and last week's stat line included a 2-0-0 record, 0.50 GAA and a .982 SV%. He leads all league goaltenders in wins (25) and is third in save percentage (.915).
PLAYER SNIPPETS: Max Cook (3G, 3A) and Stanislav Galiev (2G, 4A) both have six points in their last five games....Ben Albertson, Zach Golembiewski, Shane Berschbach and Torey Krug all have at least a point in three of their last four games...Brent Gwidt has four goals in his last five contests.
TEAM CLIPS: The Ice is a USHL-best 21-0-0 when leading after two periods....Indiana gave Cedar Rapids their only regulation loss in their last ten games with Friday's win in Iowa...The Ice plays a Fargo team this week that is 6-2-2 in their last ten games....Indy is 13-4-0 against the West Division.
COLLEGE UNION: Goaltender Alec Richards (2004-05) extended his winning streak to seven games for Yale with wins over Union and RPI last weekend....Nick Bailen (2005-08), Kyle Page (2005-06) and Todd McIlrath (2004-06) combined for seven assists for Bowling Green in a weekend split with Ferris State...Cody Reichard stopped 26 of 27 shots for Miami on Friday in a 2-1 win over Lake Superior State...Garrett Roe (2004-07) handed out three assists for St. Cloud in a weekend sweep of Michigan Tech...Patrick Cullen (2007-08) scored the game-winner for RPI in Friday's 4-3 win over Brown.
