Want to know about the longest game in USHL history? Ask Brian Lavelle, radio voice of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. He called it on April 12, 2002.

"With the Riders leading 3-1 late in the third period of game two, overtime seemed an unlikely prospect. The Stars would rally, however, as Ryan Potulny cut the Cedar Rapids lead to 3-2 at 16:08 of the third and then, with just 48 seconds left in regulation and Lincoln on the power play, the Stars' Matt Wavra scored to tie the game. It would be better than three full periods before another goal was scored as goaltenders Philippe Lamoureux of Lincoln and, even more so, Bobby Goepfert of Cedar Rapids stole the show in sudden death. Goepfert, who had already stopped 39 shots in regulation, would go on to make an incredible 77 saves by the end of a game that would stretch into a fourth overtime and see the Stars out shoot the Riders 80-60.

"At 12:42 in the morning- five hours and 39 minutes after it started- the game would finally end. Chase Watson won a face off in the Lincoln end and RoughRider defenseman Alex Valentin wristed the puck through traffic and past Lamoureux at 6:15 of quadruple overtime to give Cedar Rapids an unforgettable 4-3 victory. ‘That was the most important goal of my life,' said Valentin. ‘I saw it go in and that was the best feeling.' The Riders would go on to take the series three games to one and advance to the Clark Cup semi-finals before being eliminated by Omaha."

USHL INSIDER

Alexander The Great: Eric Alexander scored a goal in his first three games with Lincoln, after going without a goal in his last 13 games with Chicago.

Andy Headed East?: Cedar Rapids leads the race for the 2009 Anderson Cup with 60 points. They lead second-place Indiana by two points. Green Bay is third with 57 points.

First One: Tri-City's loss to Chicago on Saturday night was their first loss in a shootout this season. Record Setter...NOT!: Sioux City's Stephane Da Costa scored two goals nine seconds apart in the Musketeers' 7-3 win over Tri-City on Tuesday. He missed the league record by one second. The USHL record for fastest two goals by one player is eight seconds, set by Wayne Berlinquette of Thunder Bay on January 4, 1987.

Still A Brick House(r): Michael Houser continues to raise his own bar. Three weeks ago, Houser set a league-high for saves in a game when he made 48 in Des Moines' 4-3 loss to Sioux Falls on January 21. Saturday against Indiana he set the standard again, this time stopping 54 in the Bucs' 3-2 win at Indiana. Half of those saves came in the first period, a league-high this season for saves in the first period.

Dry Spell: Since winning a franchise-record 12 straight games, Green Bay has gone 1-3-1 in their next five games. Luckily, only one of those games was against a divisional opponent.

Bonus Hockey: Last week, four games went to a shootout and one to overtime.

Perfect 10 Again: Waterloo scored ten goals in a game for the second time this season in a 10-3 win over Des Moines on Friday. They also did it on December 20, when they beat Indiana by the same 10-3 score.

Cheli Chipping In: After having one point in six games to start this season with Cedar Rapids, Dean Chelios has 14 goals and 36 points in 33 games since being traded to Chicago.
