York United FC News Release
Toronto, ON - York9 FC is delighted to announce the signing of Canadian defender Chrisnovic N'sa on a multi-year deal.
The 21-year-old arrives from HFX Wanderers after two excellent seasons on the east coast, which culminated in the side's impressive run to the final of The Island Games in September. N'sa was central to it and the calibre of his performances ensured he was shortlisted for the Canadian Premier League's Canadian Under-21 Player of the Year award for 2020.
A lightning quick, explosive and imposing player with 30 CPL appearances already to his name, N'sa - who previously spent a number of years in the Montreal Impact Academy - has experience in a variety of roles but slotted in predominantly as right-back under Stephen Hart in Halifax.
"When Chrisnovic N'sa is available, you do all you can to secure his services," says York9 FC's Managing Consultant, Angus McNab.
"He's a player who has shone in the first few years of the CPL and we are delighted to have signed him. I watched and rewatched our Island Games clash with Halifax too many times and every big moment for them seemed to feature this one chap with the number six on his back: from the start of the game and stopping Ryan Telfer to winning that free-kick late-on that ultimately hurt us and saw them make an eventual run to the final. I see Chrisnovic at the very top of the list of young Canadians ready to play overseas. We need to give him a platform here and support that ambition as his development is ultimately good for the future of soccer in Canada."
There's also a neat subplot to Chrisnovic's capture: his younger brother, Felix, was announced as a York9 FC signing yesterday.
"I'm so happy about that," McNab continues.
"I think he's a great mentor to Felix and having the two of them will drive the competitive environment we want within our squad. They play a similar position and will both want that starting role. Chrisno is a great player and Felix shows tremendous potential, so having that sibling rivalry within the group will be great. It should also be good for the guys as they settle into life in Toronto."
N'sa can't wait to get started, and having his brother alongside him stirs even greater excitement for what's ahead.
"When we were younger, we always told ourselves we were going to play on the same team," Chrisno says.
"But I never thought it was really going to happen: I was telling Felix that just to make him happy. So, when I heard that York9 was interested in the both of us, I knew I couldn't miss this opportunity. I'm so excited to live in The 6 and 'The Wall N'sa' is ready to fight for the club, the region and the supporters."
