York Takes Series from Bridgeport

(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 31, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (17-17) suffered a series defeat to the York Revolution (14-18) after the home team lost at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Thursday by a score of 9-2.

Brock Peterson served a solo shot to left in the second. His second homer in as many nights and his fifth of the year gave Bridgeport the only lead of the evening before York scored the nine of the last ten runs. Peterson collected two hits on the night. Elliott Ayala and Eddie Rogers were the only other Bridgeport players to pick up a hit the rest of the night. Prentice Redman extended his on-base streak to 31 consecutive contests with a walk in the fourth.

York was leading 2-1 heading into the fifth when five Revolution runners came to the plate. Ramon Castro belted a three-run shot to left and drove in four on the night. Later in the inning, with one out, Bobby Kielty smacked a two-run shot to right. The rightfielder drove in three on Thursday in the victory for the road side.

Bluefish starter, Raymar Diaz (0-4), suffered the loss as the righthanded pitcher allowed seven runs on nine hits and two walks while fanning two in four-and-a-third innings. The combination of Jonah Bayliss, Wynn Pelzer, and Jorge Julio completed the last four-and-two-thirds frames while surrendering two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks. The tandem also struck out five Revolution hitters.

Chris Cody (2-5) picked up the win for the Revolution as the starter gave up just one run on one hit and two walks while striking out tree. Three York pitchers came out of the bullpen to combine for three innings of one-run, three hit, two walk and two strikeout baseball.

Bridgeport starts a three-game series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Bluefish fans can listen to the game on bridgeportbluefish.com.
