Long Island Ducks News Release

(Camden, N.J., May 31, 2012) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Camden Riversharks 8-5 on Thursday night in the final game of a four-game series at Campbell's Field.

The Ducks jumped in front on Brandon Sing's first inning RBI single off Camden starter Bryan Corey. The Riversharks responded with three runs in their half of the first, one in the second and two in the third against Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann to take a 6-1 lead. RBI singles from Marquez Smith and Chris Walker along with a two-run homer by Drew Macias highlighted the scoring.

Long Island stormed back with a four-run fourth to cut the deficit to one. A solo home run by Sing, a RBI double by Reid Gorecki and a two-run homer from Josh Johnson did the damage. However, a pair of RBI singles by Eduardo Perez and Steve Doetsch in the seventh put the game out of reach.

Blake King (1-1) earned the win with one and two-thirds scoreless innings in relief of Corey, who allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits in four and one-third innings. Zimmermann (3-2) took the loss, surrendering six runs (four earned) on 10 hits in five innings. John Lujan earned his sixth save with a scoreless ninth.

Sing and Ray Navarrete each had two hits to lead the Ducks offensively.

The Ducks return home on Friday, June 1 to begin a seven-game homestand, as they host the York Revolution in the opener of a four-game series. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05. The Ducks will be running their Friday Night Pizza Hut K-Man promotion. Southpaw Randy Keisler takes the mound for Long Island against York lefty Jesus Sanchez.
