Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz take on the Iowa Barnstormers, Saturday, April 24, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Kickoff is set for 8:05 pm CST and is the featured "Game of the Week" on the NFL Network. This game will mark the national television debut of the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz.
The Yard Dawgz go into Saturday's match up after an impressive win against the Cleveland Gladiators (63-50) in week three. The Dawgz defense is currently ranked 1st in scoring defense, 5th in total defense and 6th in pass defense. While the Barnstormer record may not show it, the Dawgz coaches and players are well aware of the fact that they must go into the game playing well on offense, defense and special teams.
"Our football team is looking forward to not only playing in front of a national stage on the NFL Network but more importantly, our team is looking forward to playing against a well coached Iowa Barnstormer team who has faced two of the best teams in the AFL in the Chicago Rush and Milwaukee Iron. Having played there last season, we know that our team will be greeted by some of the best fans in all of arena football. They definitely create a home field advantage for the Barnstormers," commented Head Coach Sparky McEwen.
While Barnstormer quarterback, Ryan Vena, has put up decent numbers this season, turnovers and penalties have been the major cause of the Barnstormers 0-2 start. They are hoping to fix these miscues and get their first win of the season when they host the Dawgz this Saturday.
