Yard Dawgz Football Academy Kicks Off June 1

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz are kicking off their new youth development program, the Yard Dawgz Football Academy, with summer football camps for kids from 5th grade up to high school seniors. The Football Academy is dedicated to building the gridiron stars of tomorrow, by helping to build stronger, faster, smarter, and better conditioned football players.
The Football Academy is led by Yard Dawgz players and coaches at the team's indoor training facility, the Indoor Soccer Arena, on 100 N. McCormick, North of Reno between MacArthur and Meridian. The program offers speed and agility training as well as position specific skills training in a competitive hands-on approach which aids each participant in reaching their maximum potential on the field. Each attendee will receive a personalized analysis after every workout to take full advantage of their Yard Dawgz Football Academy experience.
"We are excited for the first time in our franchise's history to provide an opportunity for the youth of Oklahoma City to participate in a number of football activities that will help their growth as young athletes," said Yard Dawgz Head Coach Sparky McEwen.
The Football Academy will have two camps this summer, the first from June 1st through June 25th, and the second from July 6th through July 30th. Cost for the Academy is $200 and the sign up deadline is May 29th and June 26th, respectively. High school participant practice times will be on Mondays at 1:00 pm and Wednesdays at 2:15 pm, middle school participants will practice at 2:15 pm on Mondays and 3:30 pm on Wednesdays.
In addition to the Football Academy, the Yard Dawgz will also host two Lightning Camps. The Lightning Camp will focus on a players speed and agility only, helping each participant to maximize their quickness on the field. This camp is especially useful for skill position players. The Lightning Camps will be held during the same time frame as The Football Academy, however the cost is only $150. All Lightning Camp classes will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
