Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY- The arenafootball2 league announced Week 6 honors. Among the award winners, Yard Dawgz quarterback Craig Strickland. Strickland received the Schutt Offensive Player of the Week and is the first Oklahoma City player to receive the league award this season.
The five-year veteran completed 18-of-32 passes for 282 yards, leading Oklahoma City to an impressive 90-54 win over in-state rival Tulsa. The Yard Dawgz' 90 points scored set a new team record. Strickland not only tied his own record for most touchdowns thrown in a single game with 10, but also set an af2 single-game and season-high record.
In Saturday's game against the Talons, Strickland became the first af2 quarterback to pass for 20,000 yards. The milestone came against the same team where Strickland began his af2 career.
"I'm glad the record came against Tulsa, so that their fans could enjoy it as well. Tulsa was very good to me when I was there," said Strickland.
The former UTEP signal caller starred for Tulsa for three years (2000-01, 2003), leading the Talons to the 2003 ArenaCup title.
This is the fourth time in his af2 career Strickland has been named Offensive Player of the Week.
The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (4-1) travel to Arkansas (4-2) to take on the Twisters, Saturday, May 13, 2006.
