DANVILLE, VA - The Danville Braves dropped the rubber match of the series against the Pulaski Yankees, losing 8-2. Starter Matt Withrow went three innings only giving up three hits and allowed two runs while striking out three.

Pulaski jumped ahead to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning and never looked back. Yankee left fielder Nathan Mikolas would lead things off in the top of the second inning with a single. Braves pitcher Matt Withrow would then surrender back to back walks to Kane Sweeney and Allan Vallerio to load the bases for the Yankees. Yankee right fielder Kendall Coleman would then send a sac fly to deep left field, scoring Mikolas on the play to put the Yankees out in front 1-0. Yankees would again load the bases with yet another walk, this time to Yankee catcher Matt Walsh. With the bases loaded, Yankee short stop Jose Javier would single home Sweeney to make the score 2-0 Yankees. The third bases loaded situation would end when Carlos Vidal grounded into a 4-3 double play to end the inning.

Yankees would add yet another run in the top of the fourth inning to take a 3-0 lead when Vallerio hit a moon shot to deep left field clearing the score board in left center field. Yankees would also score a run in the top of the sixth inning to make their lead 4-0. Coleman would single to start the top of the sixth inning, however he was thrown out attempting to steal second base. Walsh would then get his second single of the night and would advance to second on a wild pitch to Vidal. With Vidal still at the plate, he would place a single into left field, scoring Walsh to make the score 4-0 Yankees.

The Braves would cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 4-2. Back to back singles from Juan Yepez and Jacob Lanning would put the Braves in business early in the bottom of the sixth. Yeudi Grullon would then walk to load the bases for Justin Ellison. Ellison would strike out, however Jose Morel would single home a one run single to make the score 4-1. Carlos Castro would then send a ball deep enough to center field to score Jacob Lanning on a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 4-2.

Yankees would add four earned runs in the top of the eighth inning to put away the D-Braves and take the series 2-1. Tomorrow the Braves will end their seven game home stand with a game against the Princeton Rays. Game time is 7 PM and it is Dollar Dog Night presented by Kunzler Meats. On the mound for the D-Braves will be Ryan Clark who got a win against the Rays in the second game of the home stand. Clark will be countered with Eudar Lopez.
