X's Take Game One Of Series Vs Kansas City

Sioux City, IA- The Sioux City Explorers took game one of the three game series vs Kansas City at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park with 10-2 rout over the T-Bones.

Kansas City got on the board first, plating two early runs in the first inning. Anthony Gallas knocked in the first run with an RBI single and Jake Blackwood scored the second of the game with a sac-fly-RBI.

Sioux City went on to tie it in the second, scoring consecutive runs off a wild-pitch and an error by the catcher.

In the bottom half of the fourth, Sioux City took the lead. X's centerfielder Matty Johnson singled to score a run, giving Sioux City the lead with a runner at first base. Johnson stole second, advanced to third on an error and scored off an RBI single by Ralph Henriquez, extending their lead to 4-2.

The Explorers bats took fire in the fifth and sixth innings, plating three runs in each inning and taking a commanding 10-2 lead that Kansas City could not overcome. Final score, Explorers 10, T-Bones 2 at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.

Sioux City's starter Graham Johnson (2-0) received the win, going 5.2 innings with only two runs allowed and two strikeouts.

T-Bones right-hander Clint Barnes (1-2) was charged with the loss, allowing seven runs (six earned) in five innings pitched.
