Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release

PITTSBURGH, September 27, 2007 - The old adage in sports says that defense wins championships. With the selection of Xavier's Justin Cage in the first round of the 2007 CBA College Draft, the Xplosion took that saying to heart.

Cage describes his game as "hard and aggressive," and coaches from around the Atlantic 10 surely agreed. They selected the 6-6 forward to his third straight Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team in 2006-07.

The Indianapolis native isn't a one-dimensional player, either. Cage reached the 1,000 point milestone January 27 against St. Joseph's and finished his career 26th on Xavier's career scoring list.

He averaged 10.5 points-per-game in his senior season, including a career-high 25 points on 8-of-8 shooting in the NCAA Tournament against Ohio State.

Cage was named the state of Indiana's "Mr. Basketball" in 2003 after leading Pike High School to a perfect 29-0 record and a Class 4A State Title under head coach Larry Bullington.
