Xplosion opens free agent training camp

PITTSBURGH, October 23, 2006 - The Pittsburgh Xplosion opened its Free Agent Training Camp today at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, Pa. The camp will continue tomorrow, Tuesday, October 24 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

More than a dozen players, many with local ties, are hand competing for an invitation to the club's Veteran's Training Camp on November 14. Among those on vying to make the training roster are Pittsburgh natives Nate Gerwig (Kent State), Griffin Abel (Pittsburgh), Jabari Matthews (LaRoche). Also in attendance were Homestead, Pa. resident Carlos Cogsdell (Pitt-Johnstown) and Indiana University of Pennsylvania graduates Mark Williams and Lawrence Baker.

A second phase of the camp will be held next week and tentatively run from Monday, October 30 through Thursday, November 2.

The Pittsburgh Xplosion begin their inaugural season in the Continental Basketball Association on December 1 at Albany. The team's first home game will be held on December 6 at the Mellon Arena.
