Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release

PITTSBURGH, October 25, 2006 - The Pittsburgh Xplosion are in serious negotiations with Dan Tobin the agent for West Virginia University standout Kevin Pittsnogle to bring the former Mountaineer to the Steel City for the 2006-07 season. The Xplosion are a member of the Continental Basketball Association which continues to serve as a top-level developmental league, placing 47 alumni on 2006 NBA training camp rosters.

One of college basketball's premier players during his four-year career at WVU, Pittsnogle captured Honorable Mention All-America and First Team All-Big East accolades as a senior after averaging 19.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and shooting 41 percent from three-point range. The sixth all-time leading scorer in program history with 1,708 points, the 6-10 forward guided the Mountaineers to three-straight postseason appearances, including trips to the NCAA Tournament's Elite 8 as a junior and the Sweet 16 as a senior.

Originally signed by the Boston Celtics as a free agent, the Martinsburg, W.Va. native would be able to further develop his game close to home by inking a deal with the Xplosion. WVU's Morgantown campus is just over an hour from Pittsburgh.

The dynamic big man would also be afforded the opportunity to work with several individuals affiliated with the Pittsburgh organization who have significant ties to the NBA. General Manager Freddie Lewis captured three titles in an 11-year pro career in the NBA and ABA; Armon Gilliam, a 13-year NBA veteran, returns for his second season with the club; and five-time NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway serves as co-founder and chief basketball operations advisor for Trinity Sports and Entertainment Group which is the Xplosion's parent company.

"Kevin possesses a unique group of skill sets. With his size and ability to shoot the ball from distance, he has the potential to create match-up problems at the NBA level if he can refine some of the other phases of his game," stated Gilliam. "Part of the reason that I am still doing this is that I love to work with the younger guys. I know what it takes to make it at the next level. If I can impart some wisdom and help a guy like Kevin achieve his dreams it makes it all worthwhile."
