Xplosion Host CBA Playoff Game, Steelers Face Celebrities

WHAT: The Pittsburgh Xplosion are hosting a one-game playoff against the East Kentucky Miners to determine which team will go on to the American Conference Finals against Minot. Prior to the Xplosion's game, the Steelers Basketball Team will face a squad of local celebrities.

WHEN: Tuesday, March 11. The Steelers Basketball Team will face the celebrities at 6 PM. The Xplosion game is scheduled for 8 PM.

WHERE: Petersen Events Center, on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh

BACKGROUND: The Pittsburgh Xplosion will host the city's first CBA Playoff game since 1995, when the Pittsburgh Piranhas made the CBA Finals. Tuesday's contest is a one-game playoff between the Xplosion and the East Kentucky Miners.

The Xplosion and Miners played seven times in the regular season, with the Xplosion taking three contests. The home team has won six of the seven games.

The Xplosion feature former Pitt Panther and CBA All-Star John DeGroat, who averaged 18.2ppg and 8.0rpg during the season. The Xplosion's other local star, Robert Morris University and Schenley High School graduate Chaz McCrommon, is averaged 17.1ppg.

East Kentucky features four CBA All-Stars, including former Syracuse standout Josh Pace. He averaged 23.1ppg and 7.1rpg. Pace also led the CBA with three triple-doubles. Pace won a national title with the Orangemen in 2003, and he was a part of the Syracuse team in 2004 that handed Pitt its first loss at the Petersen Events Center.
