Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release

Led by Chaz McCrommon's 27 points, the Pittsburgh Xplosion defeated the first place Minot Skyrockets, 105-100, tonight at the Petersen Events Center.

Pittsburgh used a 14-5 run to open the fourth quarter to blow open its three point lead. John DeGroat hit a pair of three pointers on successive possessions to extend the Xplosion lead from 10 to 16, which was the largest of the night.

Minot rallied, however, and cut the Xplosion lead to four with 22.1 seconds to play on a Ray Cunningham tip-slam. Pittsburgh iced the game with free throws from Lincoln Glass and Kevin Mickens.

The Xplosion rallied in the second to take an 8-point lead on a Glass three pointer with 4:35 remaining. Pittsburgh couldn't push the lead the double figures, though, and Minot cut the deficit to 44-39 heading into the intermission. The Xplosion did win each of the first two quarter points.

Pittsburgh pushed its lead to 13 midway through the third period, but the Skyrockets managed to stay within striking distance largely because of CBA veteran Ronnie Fields. Fields finished with 23 points and eight assists. Minot took the third quarter point by a bucket and cut the Xplosion lead to three.

Pittsburgh took six of the seven quarter points. The Xplosion return to the Petersen Events Center Monday night when they host the East Kentucky Miners at 7:05 PM. For ticket information, visit www.pittsburghxplosion.com.
