Memphis Xplorers News Release

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Memphis Xplorers players James Roden and Nate Grace, along with several local sports celebrities, sports reporters and representatives visited Bruce Elementary in mid-town Memphis on Thursday for Sports & Career Day.

Classes came through the school gym in shifts, stopping at each professional's table to ask questions and get autographs.

"Where do you go when you explore?" one student asked Roden.

"We go all over the place—New York, California, Florida, lots of places," he said, naming states that are home to arena football teams in the af2 league.

Another student asked Grace what position he plays.

"I play defensive line and offensive line," Grace said. "I protect the quarterback and chase the other guy's quarterback."

Many of the children wanted to know about injuries, and whether tackling or being tackled hurts. Others wanted to know if the players had families: wives, girlfriends or children.

"Why do you like playing football?" one child asked.

"Because you take a vacation every weekend to a different place," Grace said.

Many children wanted to know what the players liked about Memphis. Grace confessed to enjoying the blues a great deal.

"How does it feel to be a football player?" a student asked him.

"It feels great," he said. "I love playing football. I love coming out to schools and seeing nice kids like you all."
