Memphis Xplorers News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss â The Memphis Xplorers made several player moves this week approved by the af2 office. The Xplorers welcomed three new players as they look for back to back wins for the first time this season. The Xplorers tangle with the Bossier City Battle Wings this Friday night at the DeSoto Civic Center, located just 15 minutes south of downtown Memphis. Call (662) 280-3737 for tickets or go online to www.xplorersaf2.com ..
The new arrivals are highlighted by OL/DL Kenny Jackson. The 6'2, 320 pound lineman played his college football at Ole Miss and was among the leading tacklers among defensive linemen in the SEC during the 2002 season.
"This guy is an animal," Xplorers head coach Danton Barto said. "He just works and works and he does everything well. This week in practice he has been unblockable and we can't wait to add him to our pass rush unit."
Also assigned were FB/LB Ron Simone from Rutgers and FB/LB Edward Smith from Mississippi State. Smith played in 11 games last year with Memphis and rushed for 93 yards and six TDs on 31 carries.
