TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

Castro: Pitched 6.0 shutout innings with 3 H, 7 K, and 0 BB in 5/03 Win vs. GBO (3-0 Power)
Binford: Allowed 2 R on 6 H over 5.0 IP with 6 K and 2 BB in 5/02 ND @ DEL (3-2 Legends in 10)
THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia swept a doubleheader against Greenville on Wednesday afternoon, winning 7-3 and 7-6. In game one, Francisco Diaz drove in three and Josh Bell hit his fifth home run of the year to pace the Power offense. Thomas Harlan notched his first SAL win in back of starter Clay Holmes, who allowed three runs over four-plus innings. In the second game, West Virginia built a 7-0 lead with a four-run second and a three-run fifth. Joely Rodriguez pitched six shutout innings for the win. Seven different players scored a run in the second game to help the Power clinch a series sweep.
BROOMTOWN: The Power sweep of the Greenville Drive was their first during a four-game sweep in over a year. West Virginia's last four-game whitewash came against the Greenville in April of 2012 over the first four home games of last season. The Power have now won a season-best five straight games heading into the series that begins in Lexington tonight.
RIVALRY WEEK AND A HALF: West Virginia will meet Lexington 20 times this season, including eight games over the next 11 days. The Power have played the Legends more than any other club since 2005, going 79-75 over 154 games. Neither team has a winning record at home in this series with West Virginia going 43-36 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The Legends hold a 39-36 edge at Appalachian Power Park.
EVENING OUT: West Virginia went 6-1 on their recent homestand and moved back to .500 this season. The Power went 1-6 during their first homestand of the season and had only been within a game of .500 once prior toWednesday.
CASTRO HONORED: On Monday, the South Atlantic League named Orlando Castro as its' Pitcher-of-the-Week for April 29- May 5. The southpaw pitched six shutout innings on Friday in West Virginia's 3-0 win over Greensboro, striking out seven and walking none. Castro is 3-2 this season with 29 strikeouts and just one walk over 33 innings pitched and joins Stetson Allie as the second Power player to be awarded by the league this season (April 4-14).
300: West Virginia's game one victory on Wednesday was the franchise's 300th at Appalachian Power Park. The Power hold a mark of 301-269 at Appalachian Power Park including both regular season and playoff contests.
10 K GOLD: Tyler Glasnow's ten strikeouts on Tuesday set a new single-game high for a Power pitcher this season, surpassing Joely Rodriguez's Opening Day tally of eight against the Asheville Tourists. Glasnow's performance also marked the first time a Power pitcher had struck out double digit batters in any game since May 19, 2010 when Kyle McPherson retired 10 Delmarva Shorebirds on strikes.
DUKE OF PITTSBURGH: Pittsburgh promoted former Power pitcher Duke Welker to the active 25-man roster. The right-hander pitched for the Power during both the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Welker was placed on the 40-man roster this past off-season and will become the 31st former Power player to reach the Majors once he makes his debut.
PROMO UPDATE- MAY 18: The Power will host their annual WVU night on May 18 against Lexington. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a Geno Smith bobblehead. All fans will have the chance to meet and greet Kevin Jones, Truck Bryant, and Da'Sean Butler. WVU Night is present by the WV Army National Guard.
POWER POINTS: Barrett Barnes was placed on the Power Disabled List on Friday, retroactive to May 2. Junior Sosa was transferred from Bradenton to the West Virginia roster on Sunday to fill the open roster spot... West Virginia has completed their season series against Greenville, going 6-1 versus the Drive this year...
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost 2-1 to Seattle Wednesday afternoon and opens a weekend series against the Mets in New York tonight... Indianapolis blanked Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre 2-0... Altoona edged Harrisburg 7-6 in 10 innings... Bradenton beat Dunedin 9-4. Taylor Lewis drove in three to pace the Marauders.
