Wright Named Sockers Player, League Co-Player of the Week

San Diego midfielder Paul Wright earned his second Sockers Player of the Week honor with a brilliant four goal, two assist performance in Saturday's 13-6 victory over Revolucion Tijuana at the Del Mar Arena. In addition, Wright split the league honor for PASL-Pro Player of the Week with Cincinnati Kings goalie Craig Salvati. Wright becomes the third Sockers player to be honored by the league this season.

Wright personally pulled the Sockers out of an early hole, scoring a natural hat trick in the final five minutes of the first quarter to give San Diego a 3-1 lead over their Tijuana rivals. Wright assisted on San Diego's fourth goal of the night then added his fourth goal of the game later in the second quarter as the Sockers grabbed an 8-1 halftime advantage. In the third quarter, Wright set up Diego Rovira's power play goal for his sixth point of the night, before sitting out the remainder of the game with a minor shoulder injury. It was Wright's high goal and point game in the two year PASL-Pro history of the Sockers.

Wright splits league honors with Cincinnati Kings goalkeeper Craig Salvati, who made eight saves in a 6-0 victory over Ohio, the first 60-minute shutout in PASL-Pro history.

The Sockers travel to Tacoma this weekend for two key divisional games against the Tacoma Stars, before returning home on February 12th to host Revolucion Tijuana once again at 6:15pm. Tickets are available at www.sdsockers.com or by calling (866) 799-GOAL.
