TWIN BILL IN TACOMA FOR SOCKERS

The San Diego Sockers make their final road trip of the PASL-Pro regular season as they travel to Tacoma, Washington to take on the Stars on back-to-back nights at the Tacoma Soccer Center. Saturday's game will double as both a regular season contest and the Western Finals of the US Open. The winner of Saturday night's game will earn the right to host the Open Cup Championship in March.

SOCKERS CLINCH WEST WITH SWEEP

With five regular season games remaining, the Sockers are in prime position to win their second consecutive Western Division title. Victories in both games on Friday and Saturday night would clinch the Western Division outright. A split of the two games would force the Sockers to win one of their final three homes games to clinch. Tacoma needs a sweep to control their own destiny in the West.

WRIGHT SHARES PASL-PRO WEEKLY HONORS

41-year-old midfielder Paul Wright had his best game in the PASL-Pro history of the Sockers on Saturday, recording four goals and two assists in San Diego's 13-6 victory over Revolucion Tijuana. Wright was honored as PASL-Pro Co-Player of the Week, sharing the award with Cincinnati goalkeeper Craig Salvati, who recorded the first shutout in league history last weekend.

SOCKERS INJURY UPDATE

The Sockers did not travel defender John Krause for the weekend trip after Krause suffered a knee strain in Saturday's win over Tijuana. Krause is expected to miss two weeks. Defender Josh Barton (concussion) will also not play this weekend, while forward Aaron Susi must sit out Friday's game after being given a red card penalty in the Sockers' last contest.

OPPONENT'S PROFILE: Tacoma Stars

SEASON: 8-4

vs. SOCKERS: 0-1

Last Meeting (11/20): Sockers 8, Stars 6

The Stars and Sockers meet this weekend for the final time in the regular season. San Diego won their first tangle back on November 20th in the home opener at the Del Mar Arena, as Kraig Chiles scored two goals and added an assist. Diego Rovira and Dan Antoniuk also had two goals apiece in the win, while Tacoma saw Greg Howes score two goals in a losing effort.

STAR: Greg Howes, forward/head coach

The former MISL MVP is pacing Tacoma offensively and leading the team from the bench as well. Howes is second in the PASL-Pro with 33 points, is tied for fourth with 18 goals and second with 15 assists. A classic "target" forward, Howes can score with either foot or set up his teammates from the top of the penalty area.

WATCH OUT FOR: Ian Weinberg/Mark Lee

Weinberg has stepped up to become the second option of the Tacoma offense, ranking sixth in the PASL-Pro with 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists). Mark Lee is also a dangerous scoring threat out of the midfield, where he uses his speed to make long runs. Lee has ten goals and eight assists (18 points) in 11 games.
