Waco Wranglers News Release
Mario Kinsey scored 23 points to lead the Wranglers to a 123-105 win over Dallas Diesel on Saturday.
Six more Wranglers had double figures with Reggie Griffin adding 22, Bobby Hill 15, Chris Johnson 13, Jeffrey Sadler 12, Sheldon Denson 11 and David Stevens 11.
The Waco Wranglers and Dallas Diesel played a close game throughout the first quarter before the Wranglers closed the half leading 56-48. The Wranglers maintained their lead throughout the last two quarters defeating Dallas Diesel 123-105.
Tonight was the Wrangler's second win over Dallas Diesel, after defeating the team 123-109 last Saturday. The Wranglers have a preseason record 3-0.
Despite the win, Mario Kinsey felt the team did not step up defensively. "I think we played poorly, to be honest with you," Kinsey said. "We had a real bad game defense wise. We kind of gave up at the end. As far as executing, we've just got to be able to finish a game."
The Wranglers have five additional preseason games before they compete against other ABA teams. "I think the ABA teams are going to be a little higher caliber than what we played tonight, but each game I think we're learning our strengths and weaknesses and that's good because when we get on the practice floor we can work on the areas we know we need to work on," Coach Toni said. "By the time the regular season comes we should be full strength and not have any weak links."
The Waco Wrangler's return to action Thursday night, Oct. 19, at 7:00 p.m. when they face Austin Capitol Sound at the Murray Watson Jr. Student Recreation Center at Texas State Technical College Waco . Tickets will be on sale at the door starting at ten dollars.
