Wranglers to Sign Final Two Players

WACO, Texas-The Waco Wranglers will hold a press conference to sign DeMarcus Thomas and Josh Wittgren Saturday, Oct. 7, at 4:00 p.m. at the Murray Watson Jr. Student Recreation Center at Texas State Technical College Waco. Thomas, a 6-foot-7 power forward, played for Southwest Missouri State with a full scholarship. Thomas was named to the All-tournament team and led the conference in rebounds and blocking. He then transferred to Xavier University where he also led the conference in rebounds. Thomas finished up at Tougaloo College where he led the conference in blocking and rebounds.

Thomas also played for 104.5 radio station as well as various city leagues in Missouri, Louisiana and Dallas. He also worked as a college coach for Harris Stowe State College in St. Louis Missouri.

"I thank the coaches for giving me this opportunity to forward my career in playing basketball and for all the prayers from all my friends and family," Thomas said. "I have a lot of people looking up to me so I have to make the best of this opportunity."

Wittgren, a 7-foot-2 center, played for Union high school in Indiana where he led the nation in blocking shots in 2000. Wittgren has since spent 3 years in Japan and 2 months in China playing basketball.

"I think we're ready," Wittgren said. "We've been practicing for two and a half months."

"These two great players will complete the Wranglers roster," Coach Toni said. "We are glad to be signing them both and now ready for the games to begin!"

The Waco Wranglers open the 2006 preseason against Dallas Diesel Saturday, Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Murray Watson Jr. Student Recreation Center at Texas State Technical College Waco.
