Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that the team has received right wing Brandon Kaleniecki from the Gwinnett Gladiators in exchange for financial considerations. As per club policy, terms of the deal are undisclosed.
"Brandon is a player we have had our eye on for a while," said Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "We tried pretty hard to get him to come to Las Vegas last year, so it is exciting for us to finally get him here for the upcoming season. He is a player that we expect good things from. Brandon should provide some goal scoring up front with a little bit of grit."
Kaleniecki remains a rookie after his first professional season was shortened dramatically by an injury. The 25-year old right wing played in only 19 games for the Gladiators in 2006-07, posting five goals and six assists for 11 points. The Livonia, MI native also played in four playoff games with a goal an assist. Prior to joining Gwinnett, the 5-foot-10, 200-pound forward played four seasons at the University of Michigan. In 159 collegiate games, Kaleniecki scored 64 goals and added 36 assists for 100 points, and added 157 penalty minutes. As a freshman in 2003, Kaleniecki's Wolverine's advanced to the NCAA's Frozen Four.
Opening Day for the ECHL's 20th Anniversary Season will be October 18th when the Johnstown Chiefs host the Wheeling Nailers at Cambria County War Memorial in a rematch of Game 7 from the first-ever ECHL Finals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning October 18th and concluding April 5th.
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that will have 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals.
The Wranglers play all 36 home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue. Las Vegas will host Opening Night on Sunday, October 21st at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena. The Wranglers will host the Bakersfield Condors at 7:05 pm on Thursday, October 13th in a preseason game.
