Amarillo Wranglers News Release
(Amarillo, Texas) The Amarillo Wranglers remain perfect at home with a sweep last weekend over the Ice Rays of Corpus Christi. Goalie Max Gutjahr was named first star of the week for the South division for the second time this season.
The Wranglers share the best winning percentage in the entire NAHL with the North Iowa Bulls. Amarillo currently sits in the top spot in the South division with a 14-and-5 record and a perfect 6-and-0 record at the Budweiser Bullpen.
Friday night, the Wranglers got their first shutout in franchise history with a 3-to-0 win, getting goals from Jakob Peterson, Nikolas Campbell, and Dominic Schimizzi. Gutjahr got the first shutout of the season with a 32-save performance.
Saturday night saw the Wranglers get a 4-to-2 win with goals from Schimizzi, Skrastins, and two goals from Glebs Prohorenkovs. Gutjahr earned his 12th win of the season, which helped earn him the top star of the week. The 12 wins for Gutjahr leads the entire NAHL through the first two months of the season.
Before Saturday night's game, the Wranglers announced their first captain and alternate captains in team history. Michael Spinner was named the teams captain, while Oliver Bezick and Glebs Prohorenkovs were named the alternate captains.
The Wranglers will hit the road Thanksgiving morning for a weekend series in El Paso to take on the Rhinos. Amarillo swept the Rhinos in the home opening weekend at the Civic Center on Sept. 24 and 25.
