Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced Tuesday that defenseman Charlie Cook has agreed to terms with the team for the 2013-14 season. The upcoming season will be his second with Las Vegas.

Cook, 30, first played for the Wranglers last year, recording six goals and 25 assists while donning the alternate captain "A". The 5-foot-11, 187-pound defenseman returned to the U.S. after five seasons overseas, playing in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, and the Czech Republic from 2007-12. In his final season abroad, Cook posted three goals and 13 assists with the Hamburg Freezers.

"Charlie is a guy who has played in some of the best leagues in the world, and he's the only player we had last year who played in every single game," said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Madill. "On top of that, he played a lot of minutes, and always played very well and very hard. He is a valuable asset to our club, and another leader who is a true professional on and off the ice."

Originally from Port Huron, Mich., Cook graduated from Cornell after four years (2001-05) with the Big Red. Named alternate captain his senior year, he collected 16 goals and 54 assists in 129 games. Cook signed an amateur try-out agreement with the American Hockey League's Philadelphia Phantoms at the end of his college career, and became part of the squad that won the 2005 Calder Cup. He then spent the next two seasons in the AHL, securing 13 goals and 37 assists in 141 games with the Phantoms (2005-06) and Binghamton Senators (2006-07).

"It's a privilege to put on the Wranglers jersey again, and I'm excited to spend this season playing in a great city with a faithful fan base," said Cook. "We have a solid core of players returning who I know want to win night in and night out."
