Wranglers rally in ninth but fall short

Wichita, Kan. – The Wichita Wranglers (0-4) ninth inning rally came up short against the Arkansas Travelers on Easter Sunday falling 1-0 at Lawrence Dumont Stadium. Arkansas improves to 4-0 on the season and will carry that confidence into tomorrows match-up.

Wichita had six hits in the game, including two in the ninth. Outfielders Dee Brown and Brandon Berger both had hits in the ninth but the late inning rally was shut down by Traveler Mark O'Sullivan. The winning pitcher for the Travelers was Mike Brunet (1-0), while Junior Herndon despite pitching six innings and only allowing one run gets the loss. Herndon (0-1) faced 21 batters only walking one and allowing five hits.

Arkansas and Wichita will meet again tomorrow in a nightcap scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. Royal Kevin Appier is scheduled to pitch tomorrow for the Wranglers, in an attempt to pick the first win of the season. The Travelers will throw Eric Cyr as they try to maintain their undefeated record. Monday night at Lawrence Dumont Stadium will be Salute to Aviation free ticket night.
