Wranglers partner with Neighborhood Sports
AUSTIN-The Austin Wranglers are proud to announce they have formed a partnership with Neighborhood Sports, the premier youth sports organization in Greater Austin. These two organizations will team up to run the first annual AFL flag football league. Focusing on basic football skills while incorporating arena football rules, the league will create a fast-paced, high-scoring and fun activity for boys and girls ages 6-14.
"Working with Neighborhood Sports gives us the opportunity to expand our involvement in the Greater Austin community while spreading the fundamentals of the arena football game to local youth," said Wranglers General Manager Glyn Milburn.
"We are extremely excited to partner with the Austin Wranglers to bring the exciting game of arena football to the flag football field," said Neighborhood Sports President Jeff Forster. "We look forward to working with the Wranglers, having the goal that it will help our youth learn more about the game of football and the important life skills that can be gained through sports."
Austin Wranglers quarterback and former University of Texas Longhorn Chance Mock will be the head coach of the Austin Wranglers flag football team in the league. Along with Mock, several Wranglers players and coaches will be on hand to offer their first hand insight about the game.
All games will be played in Cedar Park at the Hill Country Christian field from July 12 - 26. During each weekend of competition, teams will play three games, culminating with a final game for the championship.
