Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release
The Northern Arizona Wranglers look to bounce back with a win, in their second game of the season, as they face off against the visiting Vegas Knight Hawks.
The Wranglers entered their first game with a large amount of new starting players. This was on display through a slow start against the Duke City Gladiators, but the Wranglers fought hard. After falling short of the comeback, the Wranglers fell to an 0-1 record for the 2023 season. This was the Wranglers first loss on Pinnacle Bank Field since the 2021 season, before Head Coach Les Moss took over the team. The Wranglers are looking to even up their record at 1-1 with a win. The Wranglers have a tough opponent coming into Prescott Valley, in the Knight Hawks.
Vegas played very well in their first game, defeating the Iowa Barnstormers by a score of 57-44. Former Tucson Sugar Skulls standout quarterback DaQuan Neal threw a total of six touchdowns. The Wranglers will face a familiar face, who will be fired up to play against his former team, in wide receiver Quentin Randolph. Randolph hauled in five receptions for 99 yards and three touchdowns last week against Iowa.
The Wranglers look to continue their progression that they started to make in Week One against Duke City. Wranglers quarterback Garrett Kettle will be entering his second game in the Indoor Football League, and has a better feel for the speed of the game. Kettle was a threat on the ground last week, rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, the Wranglers face a challenging Vegas offense that will be tough to shut down. The Wranglers were able to keep up with the high-powered Gladiators attack for the most part, but will be looking to force their first turnover of the 2023 regular season.
The matchup should be a good one for the defending champions at home, as they'll be ready to rise to the challenge. Will the Wranglers bounce back with a victory at home?
