
Wranglers falter in Kelly Cup showdown

Cincinnati, OH -The Las Vegas Wranglers® were defeated by the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-1 in Game Six of the Kelly Cup Finals on Thursday night in front of 12,722 fans at the U.S. Bank Arena. With the victory, the Cyclones eliminate Las Vegas and win the Kelly Cup Finals (4-2). Cincinnati forward Matt Syroczynski scored just 35-seconds into the third period for the eventual game-winning goal. ECHL Playoffs MVP Cedrick Desjardins stopped 25 of 26 Las Vegas shots in the win. Las Vegas right wing Adam Cracknell scored the only Wranglers goal in Game Six. The Wranglers start the 2008-09 season this coming October.
In the first period, Cincinnati scored the first goal of the night as David Desharnais set up Jean-Michel Daoust's sixth goal of the playoffs and a 1-0 Cyclones lead. Desharnais led the rush through center and dropped a pass at the high-slot for Daoust, who snapped a wrist shot past Kevin Lalande for the 1-0 Cincinnati lead. Las Vegas outshot Cincinnati 13-9 in the opening period. Left wing Kelly Czuy left the game just six minutes into the opening period after collision with Cincinnati defenseman Matt MacDonald. Czuy did not return.
In the second period, Las Vegas managed to tie the game 1-1 with a late power-play goal by Adam Cracknell. With a five-on-three advantage, Cracknell ripped a one-timer off of traffic in front of the Cincinnati net with only 1:21 remaining in the period. The goal ended Cincinnati goalie Cedrick Desjardins shutout steak at 132:25, dating back to Game Four at the Orleans Arena.
In the third period, Cincinnati took hold of the lead for good just 35-second into the final period as Matt Syroczynski scored his ninth of the playoffs, giving the Cyclones a 2-1 lead. At 6:33, defenseman Jon Gleed fired a shot through traffic and into the back of the Las Vegas net for the 3-1 final.
