Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Ontario, Calif. - Facing the top team in the Pacific division, the Las Vegas Wranglers won 6-3 over the Ontario Reign tonight to kick off a five-game road series.
A scoreless first period saw Ontario with the 12-7 shot advantage, and the team capitalized on their efforts with an early second period goal from left wing Colton Yellow Horn. The Wranglers responded with a power play goal from center Eric Lampe to tie the game, but a goal from Reign forward Brodie Sheahan ended the second with the home team up 2-1.
Just 2:54 into the third, Las Vegas went on a scoring spree - four goals in 14 minutes - to take a 5-2 lead. Wranglers center Chris Francis tallied the period's opening goal, followed by left wing Adam Huxley's first goal of the season. A power play goal from forward Andrew Sarauer and an empty net goal from right wing Sean Wiles continued to go unanswered until Reign forward Mario Lamoureux attempted an Ontario comeback in the final 90 seconds of the game, but a second empty net goal off the stick of Sarauer sealed the Wranglers' 6-3 victory over their division rival. With the Las Vegas win, Reign center C.J. Stretch's 13-game point streak came to an end as well.
The Wranglers continue a five-game road series against the Utah Grizzlies and Idaho Steelheads this weekend, and face the San Francisco Bulls and Stockton Thunder after Christmas.
