Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced Friday that forward Geoff Irwin has agreed to terms with the team for the 2013-14 season.

Irwin, 28, made his ECHL debut with the Idaho Steelheads in 2009-10, recording two assists in eight games. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward then posted 13 goals and 12 assists with the team next season, and was voted the Steelheads' "Unsung Hero" by his teammates. Irwin last played for the Ontario Reign in 2011-12, and the alternate captain tallied 19 goals and 29 assists during the regular season with another three goals tacked on in five playoff games.

"Geoff is an energy guy who shows up every night," said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Madill. "He's very hard to play against, and that's why we wanted to bring him to Las Vegas. He knows what he's good at, and he sticks to it. Geoff is another one of our new players who will be counted on to find the net and create momentum."

Originally from Victoria, British Columbia, Irwin spent four years (2006-10) at Minnesota State University - Mankato. In 143 games, he collected 32 goals and 52 assists, and was named team captain his senior year.

The Wranglers open their eleventh season of hockey in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies.
