
WR Ryan Bugg Commits to Roughnecks for 2011 Season

MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks are excited to announce on Thursday, September 23 that wide receiver & former 2010 IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year nominee Ryan Bugg has committed to the Roughnecks for the 2011 season. Bugg led the Roughnecks with 68 receptions for 835 receiving yards and finished tied for first with WR Steve Bergeski with 15 touchdown receptions in 14 games played during the 2010 regular season. Bugg (6'1", 190 lbs.) first signed with the Roughnecks back in February of 2010 during training camp and led the club in receptions throughout the regular season beginning in week one.

He is coming off an impressive rookie season with the organization and he has all the attributes to once again be a top receiver in the IFL. He has the ability to play at higher levels of professional football and we believe he will in the future. He was an important asset to our passing game during last season and he will continue to develop his game especially with a year of experience under his belt." stated West Texas Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Williams.
In the last four games of the 2010 regular season Bugg posted a combined 27 receptions for 294 yards and five touchdowns for the Roughnecks. He would finish second on the team with 833 all-purpose yards and he finished first with 16 total touchdowns. Bugg finished seventh among all IFL receivers in receptions (68) and finished fifth in the league in receiving yards (835).
Bugg attended the University of Tulsa and as a senior in 2006 he recorded 45 receptions for 617 yards with four touchdowns. His successful senior campaign led to an Honorable Mention All-Conference USA selection. As a junior in 2005, Bugg played in all 13 games finishing the season with seven receptions for 61 yards.
Before his collegiate career at Tulsa, Bugg spent two seasons at Allan Hancock Junior College where he posted 50 receptions for 850 yards during his sophomore season. He was named to the All-Western States Conference Second Team and voted the team's Most Valuable Player. Bugg received a three-star rating as a JUCO prospect according to Rivals.com. Bugg attended Atascadero High School (Atascadero, California) where he started for two seasons on offense. Bugg was a two-time First-Team All-County selection and earned First-Team All-League honors as a junior and Second-Team as a senior.
