
Worcester Takes Series Opener over Colonials 4-1

Quebec City, QC - The Pittsfield Colonials fell to the Worcester Tornadoes 4-1 at Wahconah Park on Friday night.
Tornadoes starting pitcher John Kelly (1-0) earned the win over six and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on three hits, two walks, and eight strike-outs. Reliever Shawn Gilblair pitched an inning and one-third scoreless before righty Albert Ayala (1) notched his first save of the season pitching the ninth.
Worcester's Alex Trezza (1-for-4, HR, 3 RBI) had the game winning three-run homer in the first inning. Shortstop Omar Pena (1-for-3, RBI) added an insurance run in the ninth with an RBI single.
Colonials' centerfielder Jerod Edmondson (1-for-4, HR) cranked his Can-Am League high third home run of the season in the fourth inning to drive in Pittsfield's only run of the night.
Starting pitcher Matt White (1-2) suffered the loss for the Colonials giving-up three runs on three hits, eight walks, and four strike-outs. White allowed all three hits and runs in the first inning and did not allow another for the remainder of his outing. Reliever David Wasylak gave-up one unearned run in the ninth inning for Pittsfield.
The Colonials play game two of their three game weekend series with Worcester on Saturday night at 6:05pm when right-hander Matt Paradoski (0-2) takes the mound against the Tornadoes' Chris Farley (1-1).
