Worcester Bravehearts Release 2015 Schedule

December 15, 2014 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
Worcester Bravehearts News Release

Worcester, MA: The Worcester Bravehearts have released their full 56-game schedule for the 2015 season as the team prepares to defend its Futures League Championship. The home opener is slated for Friday night, June 5th, and the Ginal regular season home game will also take place on a Friday night, August 7th. The Bravehearts will play 19 of their 28 home games on Thursdays through Sundays.

The Bravehearts will open the 2015 campaign on the road Thursday, June 4th with a game at their Central Mass rivals in Leominster, the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. The two teams will play again in Worcester on the following evening as Hanover Insurance Park opens its gates for the summer. Opening weekend also features a rematch of the 2014 FCBL Championship series when the Martha's Vineyard Sharks visit Worcester on Saturday night, June 6th. The Bravehearts are planning a championship ring ceremony on the Gield with members of the 2014 squad during one of the team's Girst two home games.

The month of June will feature 13 home games of the Bravehearts' Girst 23 games of the season. Notable highlights include a Father's Day matinee on Sunday, June 21st against Torrington, a post-game Gireworks display Friday, June 19th versus Seacoast, and the Girst of Give visits to Worcester by the FCBL's newest team, the Bristol Blues on Thursday, June 11th.

After heading on the road July 3rd - 5th, eight of the team's next eleven home games will be on weekends. The Bravehearts will host games on the weekends of July 11-12, July 25-26, and August 1-2 as well as Friday nights July 17th & July 31st.

New in 2015, the league has adopted an unbalanced schedule that matches teams more frequently with rivals within their own division. The Bravehearts will once again compete in the FCBL West Division, creating eight matchups with Wachusett, PittsGield, and Torrington as well as ten total games against the expansion Bristol Blues. The Bravehearts will play members of the East Division four times, including the Nashua Silver Knights, Brockton Rox, Seacoast Mavericks (Portsmouth, NH), and North Shore Navigators (Lynn, MA). The one exception is the Martha's Vineyard Sharks, whom the Bravehearts will play six times in 2015.

The Futures League has also instituted a new playoff format in which eight teams will qualify for a single-elimination bracket-style tournament beginning on Monday, August 10th. Each division champion will make the playoffs along with the next six teams with the best records. After the Girst two rounds of single-elimination action, the Championship series will once again be a best-of-three series kicking off Thursday, August 13th.

Worcester will once again host all Monday - Saturday home games with a Girst pitch at 7:05 PM. Two exceptions will be Tuesday, June 9th vs Brockton and Tuesday, July 28th vs Torrington. Those two games will begin at 11:05 AM as the team welcomes local schools for an Education Day in June and local day camps for a Camp Day in July.
