Worcester Red Sox LHP Alec Gamboa (2-3, 3.63) vs. Norfolk Tides LHP Luis DeLeon (NR)

A History-Making Month - July of 2026 will be a month to remember in both Red Sox and WooSox Nation. The Boston Red Sox, under a certain former WooSox manager, just finished their best month in their nearly 126-year history going 21-4 in July. Meanwhile, the Worcester Red Sox might not have been able to equal their big brothers in Boston, but they just matched the best month in their almost six-year history finishing with a 16-7 record this July. Now it's on to August and beginning tonight the first of 26 games during the penultimate month of the season. This evening the WooSox - winners of three straight, 9 of their last 10 games, and up 3 games to 1 in this 6-game series - play game five against the Norfolk Tides (AAA-Baltimore) at 6:35 pm Harbor Park in Norfolk, Virginia. The game can be heard on NASH 98.9 FM and the rest of the WooSox Radio Network.

More on a Memorable Month in Red Sox History - Boston's, 9-4 victory in Los Angeles last night put a bow on their MLB-best 21-4 (.840) record in July which is the Red Sox best winning percentage ever in a calendar month (min. 20 G). Boston's previous club-record for winning pct. in a single month was .800 from August 1950 (24-6) and June 1901 (20-5). Led by manager Chad Tracy, the recently inducted WooSox Hall of Famer, the Red Sox used 23 former WooSox players during the month of July.

The End of a Very Fine July - As mentioned above, the WooSox, under manager Iggy Suarez who took over for Trace on April 26, finished 16-7 in July to tie for the best month in Worcester club-history. The 2021 WooSox also went 16-7 (.696) during September of their inaugural season. Worcester's winningest month ever in terms of victories was July of 2024 when they went 18-10 (.642). Worcester batters hit .270 this July (199-for-737) with 23 HR while Sox pitchers had a 4.72 ERA during the month (103 ER in 196.1). The Sox out-scored their opponents, 145-113 in July. Furthermore, Worcester's 145 runs scored in July were the most of any club in the 20-team International League and their 40 stolen bases during the month were 2nd most in the league (Jacksonville had 45 SB).

July Leaders - Kristian Campbell led the WooSox in batting in July with a .379 average in 19 games (22-for-58) with 4 2B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 13 walks (tied for most on team), and 15 runs scored (to lead the club). Mickey Gasper was next with a .367 average in 18 games (22-for-60) with 6 2B, 2 HR, 10 RBI. Andrew Knizner at .327 in 15 games (18-for-55, 6 2B, 2 HR, 13 RBI) and Braiden Ward at .322 in 17 games (19-for-59, 3 2B, 2 3B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 12 SB) also had excellent Julys. Vinny Capra and Brett Harris led the team with 14 RBI apiece. Tyler McDonough, sent to Double-A Portland on July 28, batted .357 in 14 games with 3 HR & 12 RBI. On the pitching side, Angel Bastardo went 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA in 9 relief appearances in July while Tyler Uberstine was 1-1 with a 1.88 ERA in 8 games.

Seventh Heaven - The Worcester Red Sox - winners of 9 of their last 10 games and 18 of their last 25 since June 28 - are now a season-best 7-games over .500 at 54-47 on the year for the first time in more than 13 months since June 24 of last season when they were 41-34. A victory tonight would push the WooSox to 8-games above .500 which was their high-water mark all of last season (41-33 on June 22, 2025 that ended the first half last year).

Come Home for a Dozen - The WooSox will put their season-high 7-game home winning streak on the line when they return to action at Polar Park this coming Tuesday night to start their longest homestand of the year - 12 games through August 16 with 6-game sets against both Lehigh Valley (August 4-9) and then Buffalo (August 11-16). That stretch of a dozen games represents half of Worcester's remaining home games this season (24 total). The WooSox current 7-game home winning streak (July 12 vs. Rochester & July 22-26 vs. Jacksonville) is their longest since their club-record 8 game Polar Park winning streak last season...May 25, June 3-8, and June 17.

Play the Schedule - The WooSox host the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (AAA-Philadelphia) for the first (and only) time this season beginning Tuesday evening. The clubs face each other Tuesday & Wednesday at 6:45 pm, play a Thursday matinee at 12:05 pm, Friday at 6:45 pm and then over the weekend on Saturday at 4:05 pm and Sunday at 1:05 pm. After an off-day on Monday, August 10, the Buffalo Bisons (AAA-Toronto) come to town for a 6-game series from August 11-16.
