Rough Ninth Sinks Bats in 7-4 Loss

In a back-and-forth contest, the Louisville Bats rallied to erase two deficits, but a third was too much to overcome in a 7-4 loss to the Indianapolis Indians on Saturday night.
Making his Triple-A debut for the Bats, southpaw Ben Wereski was stellar after allowing a first inning run. Overall in his Triple-A debut, he pitched 5.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on five this with two walks and five strikeouts to keep the Bats in the game. He departed with a bases-loaded jam in the sixth before Anthony Misiewicz recorded the final out.
Down 2-0, the Bats offense stormed to life in the sixth. With two on and two out, Michael Chavis lined an RBI single to get the Bats on the board, and both runners moved into scoring position on an Indians error. Austin Hendrick cashed in from there, lining a two-run single to right to give the Bats the lead 3-2.
The Indians responded by loading the bases again with two outs in the seventh as Johnathan Rodriguez grounded a two-run single up the middle, putting the visitors up 4-3.
The 4-3 lead lasted until the bottom of the eighth, when Michael Toglia crushed his 20th home run of the season, an opposite-field solo blast to left-center to the the game at four.
But in the ninth, Ronny Simon put the Indians ahead for good with an RBI single to center of Johnathan Lavallee. Another RBI single from Johnathan Rodriguez and a sacrifice fly from Enmanuel Valdez gave the Indians a 7-4 lead they would hold onto.

Probable Pitchers: Both the Bats and Indians have yet to announce a starting pitcher for Sunday's game. Promos: Sunday 's game is Kids Day, with inflatables available in the Hall of Fame and kids invited to run the bases after the game.
