Wood Returns To Trenton

TRENTON, NJ (August 29, 2007) - The Trenton Devils today announced that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Stephen Wood. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wood, who turned 26 on August 18, returns to the club that he helped capture the 2005 Kelly Cup. As a rookie that season with Trenton, Wood ranked second among team defensemen with 17 points (4g, 13a), and chipped in 10 points (4g, 6a) in 20 playoff contests. He went on to post career highs the following year with 7 goals and 21 assists, while leading Trenton blueliners with 28 points.

Wood saw action last season in both the ECHL and the American Hockey League, recording eight goals and six assists in 25 games with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. He added a goal and six assists in 28 games split between the Peoria Riverman and the Bridgeport Soundtigers of the AHL. The fourth-year pro has made 84 career AHL appearances with Bridgeport, Peoria and Philadelphia. A Cambridge, Mass., native, Wood was a four-year letterman at Providence College.

Wood becomes the third player to sign with Trenton for the 2007-08 season, joining center Tony Zancanaro and defensemen Matt Cohen.
