Chicago Wolves News Release
Four Chicago Wolves players will team up to make appearances at six libraries to complete the 18th season of the "Read to Succeed" program, presented by Butternut Bread and J.U.L.I.E., Inc.
Rookie center ALEX FRIESEN will visit Flossmoor Public Library at 4 p.m. and Crestwood Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26. The 22-year-old Friesen is a St. Catharines, Ontario, native who was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Rookie defenseman BRAD HUNT, who scored a goal in the 2013 American Hockey League's All-Star Game last month, will visit Richton Park Public Library at 4:30 p.m. and Palos Heights Public Library at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
Defenseman KEVIN CONNAUTON, who scored a goal in the 2012 AHL All-Star Game, will appear at Park Ridge Public Library at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Left wing BILL SWEATT, an Elburn, Ill., native who made his National Hockey League debut last season, will conduct a program at Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
The "Read to Succeed" program teaches the importance of recreational reading and encourages children to use the many resources that libraries have to offer. The players discuss the benefits of reading outside the classroom and explain how they play an important part in their lives as professional athletes.
Children can win prizes including Wolves hats, pennants and tickets to upcoming games for setting and achieving reading goals. Thousands of children have participated in the program this season as Wolves players visited libraries throughout the Chicago area.
