Chicago Wolves News Release

HOUSTON---The Chicago Wolves held onto a one-goal lead for the final 22:42 to shoot past the Houston Aeros, 2-1, at the Toyota Center Sunday night.

Center Jason Krog led the way with a goal and an assist while right wing Spencer Machacek potted the game-winning tally for Chicago. The win was the Wolves third victory in as many nights.

Krog broke open the scoring for Chicago (8-7-0-1) at 5:44 of the second period. Krog sent the puck across the ice to left wing Brett Sterling who wristed a shot from the faceoff dot. Aeros netminder Anton Khudobin made the stop, but Krog picked up the rebound and stuffed it into the net to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead.

Houston (9-9-0-0) tied it up on the power play, 11:53 into the second period. Deep in the corner, right wing Jon DiSalvatore sent a pass through traffic to center Nathan Smith in the opposite circle. Smith one-timed the shot past Wolves goaltender Peter Mannino, glove-side.

Peter Mannino (1-0-0) thwarted 26 of 27 shots in his first start of the season for the Wolves.

Chicago netted their own power-play goal at 17:18 of the second period. Krog passed the puck across the ice to defenseman Arturs Kulda who rocketed a shot that rebounded off the boards and behind the goal. Machacek picked the puck up and sent it past Khudobin, near-post, to take a one-goal lead into the second intermission, which they would not relinquish.

Khudobin (7-3-0) posted 21 saves in the losing effort.

The Wolves conclude their season-high six-game road trip against the Rockford IceHogs at the Rockford MetroCentre on Fri., Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
