Chicago Wolves News Release
GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves announced Friday that defenseman Kevin Tansey, a training camp invite, has signed a standard player's contract (SPC) with the team.
"Tansey is a player that went to the Traverse City prospect camp and made a major impression," said Chicago Wolves general manager Wendell Young. "That continued into St. Louis camp and then to Wolves camp, and he became a player we definitely wanted to be part of our organization."
Prior to joining Chicago, Tansey completed a four-year career at Clarkson University. With the Golden Knights, he appeared in 151 games-just one shy of the program's all-time record-and tallied 34 points (12G, 22A).
The 23-year-old made his professional debut during the 2015-16 season, skating in 11 AHL games with the Binghamton Senators.
Following his NHL training camp experience, Tansey has been skating in Wolves camp. Others who have recently moved from the NHL to Chicago include forwards Kenny Agostino, Samuel Blais and Conner Bleackley, defensemen Chris Butler, Vince Dunn, Brad Hunt, Jordan Schmaltz and Tommy Vannelli, as well as goaltenders Pheonix Copley and Jordan Binnington.
The Wolves host the Grand Rapids Griffins at West Meadows Ice Arena in Rolling Meadows on Friday (Oct. 7) in the second of three preseason games. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
Chicago's final preseason game is Saturday (Oct. 8) against the Milwaukee Admirals at the Triphahn Ice Arena in Hoffman Estates. Tickets are $8 and available in advance or at the door. Call 847-885-7500 for tickets. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m.
Chicago opens the 81st AHL regular season on Friday, Oct. 14, in Grand Rapids. The Wolves return home the following night for the back end of a home-and-home series with the Griffins, and their first game of the 2016-17 season at Allstate Arena. Join the team in celebrating its 23rd season with a free tailgate party in the arena's West Lot from 4 to 6 p.m. To purchase tickets or get more information about the Wolves' home opener, visit ChicagoWolves.com or call 1-800-THE-WOLVES.
