Utica Memorial Auditorium Announces New Security Procedures

Utica Comets News Release

The Utica Memorial Auditorium announced today that hand-held metal detector wands will be in use at all main entrances to the arena beginning with the Utica Comets preseason game on Sunday, Oct. 9 vs Syracuse. Fans are strongly encouraged to arrive 15-20 minutes earlier than they usually would, and even earlier if they typically arrive close to puck drop.

The new safety enhancements are part of The AUD's initiative to standardize security procedures at the arena. Fans will now be asked to remove all objects from their pockets before passing through the metal detector wands. No knives of any kind, firearms or weapons will be allowed in the arena. In addition, all bags will also be subject to inspection, as per previous fan safety protocols.

As a reminder, as of Sept. 1, all events at The AUD now operate under a strict no re-entry policy.

These new security measures are consistent with those in effect at other sporting venues, including the NBA, MLB and NFL.
