Manchester Wolves News Release
The Manchester Wolves, New Hampshire's professional arenafootball2 team, might have their first af2 all-time leader on their hands in five-year veteran Allistair Sebastien. The defensive back from St. John's University currently had 28 career interceptions which is good for second all-time and just one short of the leader, four-year veteran Matt Forbes of the Louisville Fire.
"I'm not really thinking about it (the record) to tell you the truth," said Sebastien. "I'm more worried about our current season as we are lacking some consistency. I just hope I can make some big plays so that I can help our team make the playoffs."
Sebastien (6'0, 200), who is playing his sixth season in the af2 and fifth with the Wolves, has amassed 356.5 total tackles to go along with his 28 interceptions in just 75 games played. The New York native currently holds the Wolves all-time records in tackles (323.0) and interceptions (24). With seven games into the 2007 season Sebastien leads the team in tackles ( 44.0) and is tied for first in interceptions (2).
"Having Sebastien a part of the secondary is like having a coach on the field," said Wolves Assistant Coach/Defensive Backs Coach Keith Easley, who has coached Sebastien since 2004. "I know he is going to remain calm during the game and will make sure the guys around him know their assignments."
Manchester (3-4) will travel to Youngstown, OH for this Friday's tilt against their East Division rival Mahoning Valley Thunder (3-4). The Wolves will enter the contest coming off of their fourth straight road loss, a 62-52 defeat by the hands of the Bossier Shreveport Battle Wings (6-1) last Friday, May 18, in Bossier City, LA. With a Wolves' win head coach Ben Bennett will reach the coveted 50-win plateau and become just the fifth af2 head coach to do so. The Thunder will enter the battle having lost their last four contests.
