Wolves Fall to Sting

The Sudbury Wolves hosted the Sarnia Sting on Friday night, marking their first meeting this season. The Sting were coming off a commanding win over the Colts Thursday evening.

Both teams came out strong in the first period however it was the Sting who found the back of the net twice in the 20 minutes. HAYDEN HODGSON notched both goals for the Sting in the first frame. Shots on goal after the first were 15-12 in favour of the sting.

The second period of play entailed fast past back and forth action. TROY LAJEUNESSE of Sarnia scored a short-handed marker with less than a minute remaining in the period. This would be the only goal of the period.

The final 20 minutes of play saw a lot of action for both teams. The Wolves came out strong out-shooting the Sting 19-10 in the 3rd. A solid smart play led to Wolves' NICHOLAS BAPTISTE notching his third goal of the season to put the Wolves on the board for the first time in this contest. BRODY SILK and PAVEL JENYS were awarded assists on the play. With things heating up on the ice, penalties plagued the third period. BRANDON LINDBERG wrapped the win up for the Sting as he scored an empty net goal with a minute and a half remaining in the contest. The Wolves out-shot the Sting 42-41 in the game but fell by a final score of 4-1.

The Sudbury Wolves will wrap up their 3-in-3 weekend on the road as they make stops in St. Catherines and London on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Saturday's matchup against the Niagara IceDogs is set for 7:00pm while Sunday's game against the Knights begins at 2:00pm. Saturday's game is broadcasted live on Eastlink commmunity channel 10. Both games can be heard live on KFM 95.5.
