Wolves Earn USL League One All-League 1st and 2nd Team Honors

USL League One honored standout performers from its second season on Wednesday as it unveiled the 2020 USL League One All-League Teams.

Red Wolves' forward Greg Hurst and defender Ricky Ruiz make the USL League One All-League First team and USL League One All-League Second team. Hurst makes the first team by making an incredible effort during the 2020 campaign. Sitting only two goals behind the league's leader and Golden Boot winner, he did in fact tally the best scoring percentage in the league. He was sidelined for a handful of games due to injury but his fighting spirit didn't keep him down. He was clinical in front of goal, and proved to play well on a consistent basis. Ricky Ruiz played exceptionally well out of the backline and was recognized on the All-League Second Team for tying the league's percentage for duels won in addition to having the second-most interceptions in the league. Ruiz played outside back for the majority of the season, and was a force to be reckoned with when playing any opposition.

The finalists for the 2020 USL League One Awards will be announced on Thursday, November 5 and the winners will be announced the week of November 9.

GK - Dallas Jaye, Greenville Triumph SC: Jaye led League One with nine shutouts and a 0.69 goals-against average as he recorded 32 saves in 16 appearances with a save percentage of 72.4 percent.

D - Justin Che, North Texas SC: Che turned in an impressive rookie season where he started every match for NTSC, making 29 interceptions and 94 recoveries while maintaining an 81.5 percent passing accuracy rate.

D - Brandon Fricke, Greenville Triumph SC: Fricke was an integral piece of the league's best defense and led League One with 17 blocks while making 60 recoveries and winning 56 duels.

D - Tyler Polak, Greenville Triumph SC: Polak led the league with 41 interceptions and led all outfield players in recoveries with 115. The left back also ranked in the top five among defenders in chances created (20) and tackles won (21 at a success rate of 56.8 percent) as part of Greenville's league-best defense.

D - Damia Viader, Union Omaha: Viader had a solid two-way season, tallying a goal and assist, while finishing in the top three among defenders in chances created (21), tackles won (24 at a success rate of 64.9 percent), and duels won (81 at a success rate of 61.4 percent).

M - Evan Conway, Union Omaha: Conway finished fifth in the league with six goals and 41 total shots, tallied two assists and 16 chances created and finished the season with a league-high 107 duels won.

M - Noah Pilato, Greenville Triumph SC: Pilato finished in the top ten among midfielders in interceptions (19) and tackles won (18 at a success rate of 62.1 percent), scored three goals, and created 10 chances while completing 439 of 558 passes (78.7 percent accuracy rate).

M - Eduardo Sosa, Fort Lauderdale CF: Sosa finished tied for second in the league in dribbles completed with 27, scored three goals and tallied a team-high four assists and had a shooting accuracy rate of 50 percent as he proved the biggest attacking threat for his side during the season.

F - Greg Hurst, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Hurst finished as runner-up in the Golden Boot race with eight goals, tallied two assists, and had the best goals-per-game average (0.79 GPG) of any player who played at least half of his team's minutes.

F - Emiliano Terzaghi, Richmond Kickers: Terzaghi was the only player to hit double-digit goals, notching 10 on his way to capturing the Golden Boot while recording 47 shots and also winning 55.1 percent of his duels (92 of 167) during the regular season.

F - Alex Morrell, Greenville Triumph SC: Morrell finished tied for the most assists in the league with six, created the third-most chances in the league with 32, completed the second-highest number of dribbles in the league with 27 and tallied five goals in a standout campaign.

Second Team

GK - Rashid Nuhu, Union Omaha: Nuhu recorded the second-most clean sheets in the league with six, made 32 saves and finished as runner up in the Golden Glove race with a 0.96 goals-against average.

D - Ian Fray, Fort Lauderdale CF: Fray finished his rookie season with the fourth-highest passing accuracy among defenders (86.5 percent), made 23 clearances and 12 interceptions, and tallied one assist.

D - Ricky Ruiz, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Ruiz won 107 of 169 duels - tied for most in the league - and made the second-most interceptions in the league with 38, while making 19 key passes and tallying two assists.

D - Connor Tobin, Forward Madison FC: Tobin blocked a team-high eight shots and made the sixth-most clearances in the league with 61, and was only topped by Fray in duel success among those with at least 50 duels won, winning 73.1 percent (57 of 78).

D - Collin Verfurth, New England Revolution II: Verfurth led the league in clearances with 74, made 14 interceptions and won 14 tackles and finished above 60 percent success in duels (61.4 percent), aerials (64.1 percent) and tackles (60.9 percent).

M - Nicolas Firmino, New England Revolution II: Firmino led the Revolution II attack with four goals, two assists, and 22 chances created, while winning 99 of 186 duels (52.2 percent success) and 14 of 19 tackles (73.3 percent success).

M - Maciel, New England Revolution II: Maciel completed the second-highest number of passes in the league with 722 while maintaining an 87.1 percent passing accuracy rate and finished in the top ten among all players in recoveries with 110 and interceptions with 33.

M - Marco Micaletto, South Georgia Tormenta FC: Micaletto finished tied for the league-high in chances created with 36, tallied three goals and two assists, won a team-high 83 duels and won 17 of 24 tackles (70.8 percent success).

F - Edison Azcona, Fort Lauderdale CF: Azcona scored three goals on nine shots while notching a 55.6 percent shooting accuracy rate, tallied three assists on 17 chances created, and won a team-high 22 tackles.

F - Lachlan McLean, Greenville Triumph SC: McLean finished third in the Golden Boot race with seven goals, averaging 0.74 goals per game on a shot conversion rate of 24.1 percent. The Australian striker also finished in the top ten among all players in duels won with 116.

F - Ethan Vanacore-Decker: Vanacore-Decker tallied a league-high six assists, finished in the top five among all players in chances created with 28, and scored three goals while finishing tied for second in League One with 46 shots overall.
